Board of Directors 2007 - 2008 President - Elysse Elder Elysse joined the JLMC in 2001. In 1996, she graduated from Nova Southeastern Law School summa cum laude, ranked 5th in her class. During law school, she volunteered as a guardian ad litem and participated in a fellowship program that provided pro bono legal services to individuals with disabilities. Elysse moved to Stuart in 1997, and volunteers in several organizations besides the JLMC. She is currently on the Board of Directors for The Children's Museum of the Treasure Coast and the Home and School Association at St. Joseph Catholic School. In the past, Elysse has seved on the Board of Habitat for Humanity and the Chrysanthemum Ball Committee for the Martin Memorial Hospital Foundation. Elysse is also a full time mother and an attorney at the law firm of Page, Mrachek, Fitzgerald & Rose, P.A., specializing in commercial litigation. President Elect - A. J. Chase A. J. has been a member of the JLMC since 2004. Currently A. J. is employed full time at Florida Atlantic University as the Chief Student Affairs Officer for the Treasure Coast Campus and is an adjunct faculty member with Kaplan University. Additionally A. J. is the President of the Stuart Area Alumnae Panhellenic Association, volunteers with the Siberian Husky Rescue of Florida, a member of Florida Atlantic University's AMP board, and is currently a participant in Leadership Martin County. She. has one son and is expecting her second child. A. J. received her B. S. in Public Administration from George Mason University, her M. A. in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Educational Leadership/Higher Education at Florida Atlantic University. Community Vice President - Mary Osteen Mary has been a member of the JLMC since 1996. Mary graduated from Brevard Community College in 1983 and has recently changed her "stay at home Mom" status to working Mom once again. With her oldest Child, Douglas away at college and her daughter Ashley a sophomore at JBHS, Mary was happy to get back in the field of dentistry working with an agency doing per diem work as a Certified Dental Asssistant. Mary served as the Pineapple Ball Chair last year for the League, and has worked with everything from fundraising to community projects in her active years with the league. Mary has been married to Don for 22 years and together they share a commitment to give back to the wonderful community in which they live. Finance Vice President - Donna Ernest Donna has been a member of JLMC since 2003. She entered the Member in Training program during a tumultuous time of her life. In the League she not only found the social support she needed, but an outlet that allowed her to give back to the Martin County community she loves so dearly. Donna graduated from Martin County High School in 1987 and takes great pride in her hometown. Through the Junior League, she has volunteered with many projects including the Hibiscus House, Gertrude Walden Childcare Center, The Children's Museum and PACE. Donna is committed to seeing the League grow and develop into the future. When not volunteering with the League, Donna works as a personal injury attorney with Palm City Law and is a loving mother to her kittie, Onyx. She is a double graduate of the University of Florida and is an avid Gator fan!! Membership Vice President - Stacey Derrenbacker Stacey has been a member of the JLMC since 2000. As Membership VP, she oversees the committees of the membership council. Stacey has been involved with other organizations in the community as well. She is active in the Home and School Association at St. Joseph Catholic School and has served on the committee for the annual fundraiser for The Children's Museum. Stacey attended the University of Florida where she earned her BS in Public Relations. She is a stay-at-home mom who enjoys spending time with her husband Dave and their three children, Jenna, Emily and Kyle. Recording Secretary - Holly Carmody Holly Carmody has been a member of the league since 2003. This year Holly is responsible for taking minutes at the JLMC membership meetings and board meetings. Holly graduated from the FSU college of Business and after having a career in healthcare finance decided to be a stay at home mom to Cooper (7) and Ashley (4). Holly and her husband grew up in the area. Sustainer Advisor - Lee England Lee originally joined the JLMC in the first provisional class in 1992. She then transferred to the Junior League of Huntsville, AL in 1994 where she once again went through their provisional class since the Martin County league was still a service league at the time. She has spent time working on a Martin County Community Directory and she chaired the marketing committee for the cookbooks published by the Junior League of Huntsville. Other community involvement includes AAUW, Library Foundation ball, Hospice Snowflake ball, Safespace board member, and she sings in the Palm City Presbyterian Church choir. Lee first moved to Stuart in 1985 and moved back to Martin County in 2005. She and her husband, Mike, have a 7 year old daughter, Sarah Katherine, who attends The Pine School. Lee works for Federated Investors, a money management firm based in Pittsburgh, PA. Past President - Susan Hodges Susan joined the Junior League in 1999. Susan is currently a Vice-President with Wachovia Wealth Management and serves as their Financial Planner in the Treasure Coast. In addition to her work with the Junior League, Susan is involved with the Indian River Estate Planning Council, the Martin County Estate Planning Council, the Treasure Coast Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and 4-H. She is also a mother and an avid amateur photographer. Susan attended Mercer University, where she received her B.B.A. in Business Administration, Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center, where she received her J.D. magna cum laude, and the University of Florida, where she received her LL.M. in taxation. |
